I am Julia Jacob, a product and furniture designer.
I started The Product Edit in 2014 to show you my favourite designs and talk about why I feel drawn to each piece. I particularly love designs that look simple.
As a weird little kid I used to pour over furniture catalouges on my bedroom floor for HOURS. The most exciting thing for me was to pick out which elivated bed I would have in my wildest dreams.
You know the kind; those ones with everything a pre-teen could want under a bed; a desk and shelves, drawers and a crawl space… or the best of all a tiny, pull-out sofa of some sort.
Now that I’m an ‘adult’ (though I’m not 100% sure that being in your twenties actually counts as adult) I know there are plenty of others out there like me who can’t help but fawn over a nicely proportioned side table.
In my blog posts I’m showing you what makes me get ‘the goggly eyes’ that most people reserve for babies.
As well as championing other designers I started my own product design company “Julia Jacob Designs” in 2014. My work combines modern manufacturing and traditional crafts, using the best of each way of working. If you’re interested in taking a look head over to Julia Jacob Designs.
I launched my first collection with Designersblock at London Design Festival in 2015. The Oblique Collection is available to buy on my website.
